Would you like to help?

Hello my loves,
I am writing to you as one of the lovely humans, whose lives have intersected with mine, like the tendrils of fungi hyphae under the forest floor, to ask for a little support for my upcoming Emergence Spring/Summer project.
Why am I asking?
When I reflected on my practice at the end of last year and realised I have been working so hard trying to set up a teaching practice, to fund my practice, that I didn't make any new art last year, and I was so deflated. What am I doing all of this for?
This year I am determined to make the art I've been envisioning since 2020. I want to expand what I can offer creatively and spiritually to the communities I am part of, through training and mentoring, I've already began developing painting, (see below) and I am experimenting with film and clay. But I want to make enormous paintings this summer. And I am hoping to buy huge canvases and new oil paint so I can paint my little heart out and I am asking for you help to do these great things!

What is the project?
This project will support the next steps in my ever-unfurling Emergence body of work. It will take me on my first solo pilgrimage, a research trip to St Ives in Cornwall, fund mentoring to help me expand and deepen my practice, and fund materials to begin a series of large scale paintings.
Funding Award
I am pleased to announce I have been awarded the Fife Visual Arts and Craft Award (VACMA) of £1,000 to go towards my project. Hurray!

How can you help!
The VACMA covers the accommodation and travel, and some of the mentoring, so I am asking for help with funding trip expenses, mentoring and materials for making new work. These additional costs come to around £800-£1,000 if I budget carefully.
You can support this project by purchasing artwork via my website

I'll be travelling down to St Ives by train on 7th April and staying in St Ives for three days, in which time I will be able to visit the Retrospective, Between Worlds, of works by Artist Ithell Colquhoun. Read about the exhibition here. I'm also excited to explore the mystical moors around St Ives, which has attracted artists to the area.
Mentoring, Trainings, - Expansion
Working with Fourthland
Fourthland are two artists, who share an improvised social practice that offers the opportunity to explore marginalised knowledge and processes; ritual, ceremony, trance work/journeying, traditional crafts and storytelling. Their work facilitates access to deeper interconnected relationships with the self, the community, the land and in turn facilitates environmental consciousness.
I joined Fourthland in 2023 taking part in their course Finding the Hearth, which culminated in a residency in Spain in September 2023. This was my first international trip since the onset of chronic illness in 2013. It was an incredibly challenging yet healing journey. In 2024 we travelled to Mount of Oaks, Portugal. The experiences I had with Fourthland were empowering, transformative and transcendental. They have profoundly reshaped both my art and who I am. I am a braver, more open, connected, socially conscious and hopeful human being.
What will I do with this support?
I would like to share and empower others, in my own way, so I will be working with Isik Sayarer, (Fourthland) who is an artistic healer, to develop a unique pathway of working enabling an integration of artistic, spiritual and healing modalities within my work. This work will also help me find confidence in my own joyful healing expression.

Thank you so much for reading! Hope to see you soon,
Jen x
